What is a VA?.. 🤔
October 23, 2020
When I first set out on my new path as a VA one of the most common questions I had asked within the first year was... "What is a VA?".
My parents had never heard of it before and they have run very successful businesses for many years. I was a single parent who relied on a regular income to cover the bills but needed a better work/life balance to be there for my son and improve my health. I had this amazing business plan... And I knew I could make it work full time for me and other individuals who needed to find a good work/life balance too.
In February 2018.. L C Virtual Assistant Services was Launched! 🚀
So, what is a VA?
A Virtual Assistant (VA) is generally known as a person who provides support services to a business from a remote location. Typically operating from home and heavily relying on the internet, the ‘Virtual Assistant’ emerged in the 1990s with technological advancements bringing about reliable internet to more homes. Businesses soon realised that they could now employee assistance without bringing them directly into the office – something which we’ve seen an increase during the pandemic.
In a tech-savvy environment, virtual assistants are more commonplace in businesses and can offer their services for a variety of tasks. Administrative tasks are most common for virtual assistants; however, they can also assist with any other elements required by the business. Many small and mid-size business (SMEs) use employ virtual support, especially for specific tasks including social media management.
At LCVA, we aim to help other businesses reach their full potential. We can tailor our assistance services to meet your business needs, dreams and goals. We pride ourself on building working relationships with clients to ensure that we understand their business, plans and ambitions.

How can a VA help me?
Hiring a virtual assistant will free up your time and allow you to focus on optimising and improving your process for maximum growth. As previously said, virtual assistants can assist businesses with relatively any task.
Virtual support duties are not limited to clerical work. They can assist with marketing, web design, social media management, bookkeeping, cliental relationships, events etc. In some cases, virtual assistants specialise in a specific skill set and only perform duties related to those skills. Others may specialise in an industry, such as a virtual assistant whose niche is assisting local jewellery businesses.
VA’s can also assist with employee relations and offer administrative human resource services virtually. Which ultimately means no HR headaches for you, and more time to focus on what you do best!
Virtual assistants can be of great assistance and are an affordable way to outsource. They can boost your productivity, take routine tasks off your hands, manage your social media pages – and the list can continue.
No matter the size of your business, virtual support is great if there may come a time at which it's impossible to do everything by yourself, or with the team you have. If you are still able to do everything yourself, you may lose the ability to do it all as efficiently and effectively as possible. With VA experience, you may find that your virtual assistant is more proficient at certain tasks. It’s more efficient and less expensive in the long run to hire out duties you’re not skilled at.
👇 The Key Takeaways:
- A virtual assistant is a person who provides support services to a business from a remote location.
- Whilst administrative tasks are most common for virtual assistants, they can perform any virtual tasks that your business may need.
- No HR headaches.
- Any business, no matter how big or small, can benefit greatly from virtual support and assistance.
- VA’s may have more experience with certain tasks and software’s which may leave you feeling less stressed.
